64-Year-Old Grandmother Loses Her Bag to Robber While Walking Home Together w/ Her Grandchild
A 64-year-old grandmother became the victim of a robbery while walking home with her grandchild in Rizal, Palawan.
On Friday evening (August 21, 2026), the victim, identified as Nancita Yayen Tamayo, was on her way to Barangay Punta Baja at around 8:00 p.m. when the frightening incident happened. According to her account, she and her grandchild were passing through a dark and bushy road when a man suddenly appeared and approached them.
The suspect allegedly tried to take the backpack that the grandmother was carrying. The victim and her grandchild were caught off guard by the sudden attack and struggled to hold on to the bag.
During the incident, the suspect was reportedly calling out to another person for help while pulling the backpack away from the victim. Because of this, the victims believed that the robber may not have been acting alone and could have had companions nearby.
After the suspect successfully grabbed the bag, the grandchild noticed that the man was allegedly carrying a firearm and a knife. The discovery added to the fear and tension of the situation, especially since the victims were alone on the road at night.
Despite the frightening encounter, both the grandmother and her grandchild were fortunate to escape without any physical injuries. They did not suffer cuts, bruises, or any other wounds during the robbery.
