Thief Steals Cigarettes and Grocery Items Worth P10,000 from Store in Kalibo
A small sari-sari store loses around P10,000 worth of cigarettes and grocery items to an unidentified thief who broke into the establishment.
On Monday morning, September 7, 2026, a 37-year-old store owner in Barangay Bakhaw Sur, Kalibo noticed signs that their store had been forcibly entered. Upon checking the area, they found that the padlock on the door had been damaged, allowing the suspect to gain access to the shop.
The store, which was built using light materials, was vulnerable to forced entry. Because of this, the thief was able to get inside and take several products without being immediately noticed.
Among the items reported stolen were packs of cigarettes, coffee, canned goods, instant noodles, eggs, bleach, laundry detergent, and shampoo. These are everyday essentials that are commonly purchased by customers in the community.
The store owner estimated that the total value of the stolen goods reached approximately P10,000. Aside from the financial loss, the incident also caused concern for the family that relies on the small business as a source of income.
After discovering the theft, the owner immediately sought assistance from the Kalibo Municipal Police Station and formally reported the incident. Authorities have since begun gathering information and examining possible leads that could help identify the person responsible.
Police are currently conducting a follow-up investigation and are working to determine the suspect’s identity. They are also encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may help solve the case.
The store owner hopes the stolen items can be recovered and that the person behind the break-in will soon be brought to justice.
