Man in Iloilo Found Dead After Night of Drinking
A 30-year-old man was found dead after a night of drinking in Phase 4 of Alta Tierra Village, Barangay Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City.
On early Wednesday morning (September 16, 2026), a man was found dead at a water station he is working, leaving family members, friends, and residents shocked by the sudden incident.
The victim was identified only by the alias Reno, a worker at a water station inside the village and a native of Panitan, Capiz. He was discovered lifeless at around 4:00 a.m.
Based on initial information gathered by authorities, Reno spent the previous evening drinking with a man identified as Jep Jep at the garage of a house inside the village. The homeowner said the two were having drinks together when Reno complained about pain in his back.
Witnesses also recalled that Reno drank soft drinks before consuming alcoholic beverages. Those present said he did not appear to be heavily intoxicated during the gathering. However, Jep Jep reportedly became very drunk and eventually fell asleep on a bench.
Another witness, identified as Ning-Ning, shared that Reno chose to sleep on a rocking chair after the drinking session ended. Everything appeared normal at the time, and no one noticed any signs that something serious was about to happen.
Early the next morning, Jep Jep reportedly tried to wake Reno. To his surprise, Reno was no longer breathing. The discovery immediately prompted concern among those in the area, and authorities were informed about the incident.
Investigators found no immediate information indicating whether Reno had been suffering from any existing medical condition. Because of this, authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of his death.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) conducted an investigation at the scene to gather evidence and establish what may have happened during the hours before Reno was found dead.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the man’s sudden death.
