Palawan Official Accused of Taking Staff Member to Lodging House and Making Unwanted Advances

A Palawan official was accused after allegedly taking a staff member to a lodging house to engage in an intimate act.

An elected official in Palawan is facing allegations of misconduct after reportedly taking a female staff member to a lodging house and making unwanted advances toward her several months ago in Puerto Princesa City.

The woman’s older brother reported the incident to a radio station. The family had already filed a complaint with the proper authorities. However, they claimed that instead of receiving an apology, they were threatened with possible legal action.

According to the woman’s sworn statement, her boss picked her up one evening after an event and told her they would meet their other colleagues. However, she was surprised when they arrived at a lodging house instead.

Since the woman was unfamiliar with the city, she believed her boss when she was told that their colleagues were inside the establishment. She reportedly did not expect to be brought to the place under those circumstances.

As she began to feel uncomfortable about the situation, the woman decided to use her cellphone to record what was happening. The recording allegedly captured her boss inviting her to engage in an intimate activity, which she refused.

The woman reportedly stood her ground, preventing the alleged advances from going further. According to the complaint, she received a demand letter asking her to delete the recording. She also claimed that she later lost her job.

The woman’s family is now seeking action from the authorities and the provincial government to address the allegations and protect the staff member’s rights.

The complaint has reportedly reached the Provincial Government’s Committee on Ethics. The matter is expected to be discussed in an upcoming Committee of the Whole meeting.
