Navy Investigates Alleged Reservist’s “Boring” Remark on San Andres Youth Riot
The Philippine Navy is investigating online posts by an alleged member of its Reserve Force who reportedly found a youth riot in San Andres Bukid, Manila “boring” because no one died.
In a statement, Navy spokesperson Capt. Marissa Martinez said the Navy is “looking into the recent online posts” about the disturbance, as reported by the Philippine News Agency on November 6, 2026 at 10:25 a.m. Martinez said an investigation will be conducted to establish accountability.

Philstar.com reported on November 5 that the Navy named a certain Aristotle Quitana, whom it described as “reportedly” a Reserve Force member. The Navy has not formally confirmed his reservist status, according to the same report.
“Should the investigation confirm any violation of applicable military rules and regulations,” Martinez said, the reservist “may face appropriate sanctions, including dishonorable discharge from the Reserve Force.”
She added that the Navy “does not tolerate any remarks that incite violence or show disregard for human life,” saying these go against the discipline and core values expected of all Navy personnel, including reservists. No timeline for the probe was given.
The riot happened around 4 a.m. on November 3 along Diamante Street in Barangay 797. CCTV footage aired by ABS-CBN News showed two groups of youths first taunting each other before throwing bottles and stones. One participant was seen using an umbrella as a shield.
The Manila Police District has identified 14 minors involved, according to Pilipino Star Ngayon. Police spoke with their parents and referred the minors to barangay and social welfare offices for assessment. Authorities are also checking whether one of the participants was carrying a real firearm.
The Navy’s investigation is ongoing, and the Navy has not announced any findings or sanctions yet.
