Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes Compares Naga Mayor Leni Robredo, Sen. Risa Hontiveros
ANTONIO TRILLANES IV – The former Senator took a swipe at Naga Mayor Leni Robredo as he compared her with Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
Previously, there were speculations and calls for a “girl power” in 2028 with the names of former Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Risa Hontiveros floating as supposed tandem in the 2028 Elections. There were also speculations that the running mate of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who has confirmed that she will run for president in 2028.
Many opposition members are vocal of their support for former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo if she decides to run for president again in the next national poll. Former Senator and now-Mamamayang Liberal Partylist Representative Leila de Lima even expressed her hope that Mayor Leni will change her mind and decide to run for president.
According to De Lima, she believes that Robredo remains the strongest bet of the opposition. Amid the political talks, a recent survey found that the gap between Robredo and Duterte for the presidency has tightened.
However, recently, after former Sen. Antonio Trillanes urged Naga Mayor Leni Robredo to make a stand if she will run for president in 2028 amid a looming Duterte presidency, the former Vice President announced that returning to the national government is already far from her horizons now.
Former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo announced that she will not run for any national post in 2028. She also admitted that she is considering to seek for a second term in the mayoralty race in Naga next elections.
Following her announcement, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes expressed his belief that Mayor Leni Robredo should endorse either Sen. Bam Aquino or Sen. Risa Hontiveros. Based on a report on GMA News, he sees it as the way to transfer a strong ground of support in case Robredo won’t run. However, the former Senator seemingly took swipe at the Naga Mayor.
Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes claimed that Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and Sen. Risa Hontiveros are both good public servants. However, based on the report, there is allegedly a difference as to who will fight for who.
“Both of them are good public servants. Pero ang kaibahan nila, si Mayor Leni, ipaglalaban mo. Si Senator Risa, ipaglalaban ka,” Trillanes said.
According to the former Senator, the Magdalo Group will allegedly support Sen. Risa Hontiveros for president in 2028. Amid the issues, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is allegedly “basically Digong without a sense of humor”.
