LTO Issues Show Cause Order Over Supercar Linked to Award-Winning Actor
An award-winning actor is facing an investigation by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after a supercar registered under his name was found using a fake license plate.
The LTO said the actor had already sold the vehicle to a vlogger, but its registration had not yet been transferred to the buyer. As a result, the actor remained listed as the registered owner when the vehicle was flagged for the suspected violation.
The issue surfaced after the LTO released a statement on Friday, August 14, 2026. LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao ordered the issuance of a Show Cause Order to the registered owner and designated driver of the supercar.
The order requires them to explain their involvement and provide documents related to the vehicle’s license plate. The LTO found that the plate being used did not match the vehicle’s official plate number.
The designated driver’s license was placed under a 90-day preventive suspension and must be surrendered to the agency. The supercar was also placed on alarm status, while authorities were instructed to impound the vehicle as the investigation continues.
The LTO is now determining who should be held responsible for the use of the fake plate. The agency said the registered owner and driver may face penalties if they are found to have violated transportation regulations.
The LTO stressed that the law applies to everyone, regardless of their identity, position, or the value of their vehicle. The agency said there will be no special treatment for anyone found violating transportation rules.
The agency also reminded motorists and registered vehicle owners to ensure that their license plates, documents, and registration records are legitimate and up to date before using their vehicles on public roads. The investigation remains ongoing, and the actor has been given an opportunity to explain his side before any final action is taken.
