ICC confirmed on Monday that Bato Dela Rosa is now facing an arrest warrant.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed on Monday that an arrest warrant against Senator Bato Dela Rosa has already been issued.

“This arrest warrant against Mr Ronald Marapon Dela Rosa was issued confidentially, under seal, by Pre-Trial Chamber I of the ICC on 6 November 2025. The ICC is currently in the process of unsealing the warrant of arrest. We will circulate to this group as soon as available,” said a statement in the 16-page document by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The warrant of arrest was “classified as secret”, but it “may be communicated to, or its existence be revealed to States, international organizations or competent persons, and that the existence of the Prosecution’s application for the present warrant, currently classified as under seal, may similarly be mentioned to States, international organisations or competent persons.”

On Monday, the ICC confirmed the authenticity of the arrest warrant related to his role in the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

Previously, former senator Antonio Trillanes IV presented to reporters what he said was the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant against Bato. He told reporters, “Nandito ako dahil sinabi niya on national TV na samahan ko raw ang mag-aaresto sa kanya. So nandito ako ngayon.”

He also confirmed that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) had the ICC warrant.

To recall, Dela Rosa attended the plenary session on Monday, the first time since he went into hiding on November 11. As of this writing, he remained on the premises of the Senate. This places him under Senate protective custody due to the arrest warrant from the ICC.

Dela Rosa is among those identified as alleged co-perpetrators in the crimes against humanity case filed before the ICC against former President Rodrigo Duterte. He served as Duterte’s chief of the Philippine National Police from 2016 to 2018 and played a key role in implementing the administration’s controversial anti-drug campaign.
