Bato dela Rosa is still a “no-show,” but he allegedly sent a letter to the Senate President
Senator Bato dela Rosa reportedly will attend a gold tournament in Baguio City despite his absence from the Senate.
The Senator has been absent from Senate duties since November 2025. His absence began shortly after reports emerged regarding an alleged arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), in connection with his alleged involvement in extra-judicial killings during the drug war, prompted by the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
There had been calls from other Senators for Dela Rosa to go back and report. People have expressed their dismay online regarding the senator’s absence.
A civil society group, ‘Wag Kang KuCorrupt’, filed an ethics complaint against him in February 2026, citing dereliction of duty due to his prolonged absence. It was reported previously that Sen. Bato dela Rosa continues to receive his salary despite his absence.
Last month, the wife of the senator shared a photo showing that he was praying inside the church. No reports particularly stated the whereabouts of the politician.
In a recent report from Abante, it was said that Dela Rosa will be in Baguio and that there was a letter sent to Sen. Tito Sotto.
According to the letter, Senator Dela Rosa reportedly has requested permission from the Senate President to use the Senate Mansion in Baguio City from March 26–29, 2026.
“The mansion will be used solely to accommodate the undersigned’s family during the CSAFP Cup 2026 in Baguio City,” a portion of the letter allegedly stated. The request states the mansion would accommodate his family during the CSAFP Cup 2026.
Although the letter states that the senator’s family will use the Senate Mansion, the Senate has a policy that the mansion cannot be used without the requesting senator.
Senate Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza, meanwhile, is expected to reject Dela Rosa’s request because the mansion is currently under renovation.
