Businessman-Vlogger Loses P2.6 Million Worth of Gold Jewelry in Antipolo City
A businessman- vlogger was robbed of gold jewelry worth around P2.6 million by three unidentified suspects at a car wash in Antipolo City.
According to the initial investigation, the suspects arrived on two motorcycles while the victim was having his vehicle washed at a car wash along Marcos Highway in Barangay Mayamot. One reportedly acted as a lookout while the other two approached the businessman.
“Binenta ko yung sasakyan ko kasi nagba-buy and sell ako eh. Sabi ko kasi pagdating ng araw mahal na rin ang gold. Minsan ko lang ito suotin hindi naman araw-araw. Nataon na lang talaga,” the victim said.
The suspects allegedly pointed a gun at him and quickly took his gold bracelet, necklace, and watch before fleeing the scene.
The victim chose not to resist after one of the robbers threatened to shoot him if he fought back. He said he remained calm because he was thinking about his wife and child and did not want to put their safety at risk.
“Ang sabi niya kasi sa ‘kin, ‘Sir, ‘pag lumaban ka patay ka.’ Yung daliri ng kamay niya nasa gantilyo na kaya nag-chill lang ako. Pinaubaya ko na kasi naisip ko yung mag-ina ko, yung anak ko,” he added.
The businessman also explained that he had sold his vehicle as part of his buying-and-selling business and decided to invest in gold, believing its value would increase over time. He said he did not wear the jewelry every day, making the robbery an unfortunate incident.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspects had been following the victim before the robbery. Initial findings suggest they may have tracked him from his garage in Morong, Rizal.
The victim had also conducted a live broadcast on his social media page shortly before the incident. Police are considering whether the suspects may have used his online activity to monitor his movements.
After the robbery, the businessman immediately sought help from the police.
Antipolo police have launched hot pursuit and follow-up operations to identify and arrest the three suspects. Authorities have yet to release additional details while their investigation is ongoing.
Police continue their efforts to track down the suspects and recover the stolen jewelry.
