Barangay Emergency Vehicle Spotted at Lodging House in Antique
A concerned netizen raised questions after reportedly seeing a barangay emergency vehicle parked inside a lodging house in Sibalom, Antique.
The Facebook page K5 News FM Iloilo 88.7 shared a photo of a barangay emergency vehicle parked inside a lodging house. The post immediately circulated online and garnered variuos reactions from the online community.
The unusual scene caught the attention of the sender, who became curious about why a government emergency vehicle was at the establishment during the morning. The photo also led to questions about whether the vehicle was being used for an official emergency or for a personal purpose.
The uploader wanted to know what kind of emergency had brought the barangay vehicle to the lodging house. The sighting was considered unusual because the vehicle was already parked inside the establishment during the early part of the day.
The barangay leadership was also being asked to explain whether the trip was connected to official government duties or a personal matter.
The issue also brought attention to existing rules on the use of government vehicles. Administrative Order No. 239 states that government vehicles should not be used for personal purposes. Government vehicles are intended for official activities and public service.

The Administrative Code of 1987, under Executive Order No. 292, also contains rules covering the use of government property and vehicles for official transactions. Violations may result in administrative or disciplinary action, depending on the circumstances and the findings of an investigation.
However, the presence of the emergency vehicle at the lodging house alone does not establish that any rule was violated. The reason for the trip and the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s use still need to be confirmed by the concerned barangay officials.
As of this writing, efforts were still being made to obtain an explanation from the barangay administration.
