Modernized Jeep Operator Faces Complaint From Drivers & Conductors in Bacolod
Around 20 drivers and conductors in Bacolod City have filed a complaint against the operator of the modernized jeepneys they work for.
The concerned employees brought the case was brought to the National Labor Relations Commission as the workers raised concerns about their wages and benefits.
One of the complainants, Carlos Garcia, shared his experience as a driver on the Mansilingan to Central Market route. He said that based on their payslips, there are deductions for SSS and Pag-IBIG.
However, when they checked their records, they found that these contributions were not being properly remitted.
Aside from this, the workers also complained about the daily quota set by the operator. Each driver and conductor is required to reach a quota of P3,500 per day. If they fail to meet this amount, the shortage is deducted from their salary. Many of them feel pressured and worried about their daily income.
The group also shared that their daily wage is set at P550 pesos. They are paid on a fifteen-day basis, but with the deductions and quota system, they said their take-home pay is often affected. For them, it has become difficult to manage their finances and support their families.
The complaint has now been submitted to the proper authorities, and the workers are hoping that their concerns will be heard and addressed. They are asking for fair treatment, proper handling of their benefits, and a clearer system when it comes to their earnings.
