Drunk Police Officer Removed From Post After Firing Gun in QC
A drunk police officer has been dismissed after causing disturbance and firing a gun in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.
A cop has been removed from his post after reportedly challenging a resident to a fight and firing a gun while intoxicated. The incident, which happened in the early hours of March 16, 2026, has raised concern among residents about safety in their community.
The complaint was filed by a security guard who said the officer, holding the rank of staff sergeant and assigned to the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station, went to his house while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the report, the officer shouted outside, calling the guard out and trying to provoke a confrontation.
During the same night, three gunshots were allegedly heard while the officer was drinking. The complainant shared that the incident caused fear in his household, especially among his children. The incident left his family shaken, as they worried about their safety.
The complainant also mentioned that this was not the first time such behavior had happened in their area. He expressed his desire for proper action so that similar incidents would not happen again.
When asked to explain, the police officer denied the accusations. He claimed that someone tried to grab his firearm, which caused it to go off. However, the explanation did not convince the authorities.
Following the complaint, the officer was immediately relieved from his assignment and transferred to Camp Karingal under restrictive custody while the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the complainant reported that his motorcycle’s side mirror was damaged after the investigation team visited his home. Due to ongoing safety concerns, he has installed a CCTV system to better protect his family and property.
