IMEE MARCOS – The Senator called on the Social Security System (SSS), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Pag-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth to temporarily suspend the collection of contribution and loan payments.
The ongoing war in the Middle East has greatly affected the budget of countless Filipinos families through the rising costs of oil. Following three (3) oil price hikes, the fuel prices have reached an enormous cost with the diesel being at P140 per liter now and is even expected to cross P150 per liter next week.

Countless public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers are calling for help from the government as they can no longer bring home an amount for their household expenses because of the high costs of fuel. The government is currently rolling out fuel subsidies to the drivers.
President Bongbong Marcos decided to suspend the fair hike citing that now is not the time to increase the costs of fare for the commuters. Malacañang claimed that the government is trying to balance its help between the transport sector and the commuters.

The countries involved in the war in the Middle East — Iran, the United States, and Israel, all remain firm in continuing the fight. The conflict sparked after U.S. and Israel launched joint airstrikes against Iran that killed several Iranian government officials and civilians.
Even Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed from the attack. Iran vowed to make U.S. regret the supposed “grave miscalculation”. An Iranian official even warned the world to prepare for oil to hit $200 per barrel.

Following the attack, Tehran applied restrictions in the passage at the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for oil shipments. It banned the U.S. and Israel-linked ships.
Amid the soaring oil costs in the Philippines, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos made a call for the government entities that collect monthly contributions from their members — the Social Security System (SSS), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Pag-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth. “Ibigay muna ito nang buo upang kahit paano ay makasabay sila sa walang tigil na pagtaas ng presyo ng bilihin,” Sen. Marcos said.
Neither the SSS nor the GSIS as well as the PhilHealth and the Pag-IBIG Fund has issued a response to the call of Sen. Imee Marcos. Meanwhile, rest assured that we’ll keep you posted.
