Residents Carry Elderly Beneficiary Through Difficult Terrain to Attend Government Aid Orientation in Negros Occidental
An elderly UPLIFT program beneficiary was carried by kind-hearted residents through a difficult terrain to attend the program’s orientation.
Recently, Marvie Faburada, a Facebook user, shared a video of several residents in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, working together to help an elderly beneficiary attend an orientation for a government assistance program. The post garnered various reactions from netizens.
The beneficiary, who lives in Sitio Lag-it, Barangay Bi-ao, could no longer walk due to physical limitations. Despite the challenges, local residents made sure the person would not miss the opportunity to participate in the government program and receive financial assistance.
To help the beneficiary reach the orientation venue, several community members carefully placed the individual in a makeshift hammock. Using sturdy bamboo poles, they carried the beneficiary across the rough and uneven terrain leading out of the remote area.
The journey was not easy. The group had to pass through difficult paths and climb steep portions of the route. Even with the physical strain, they continued working together to ensure the beneficiary could attend to the required orientation.
The beneficiary is part of the UPLIFT Assistance Program, which stands for Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport. The program is being implemented by the national government to provide financial support to qualified individuals.
Under the program, beneficiaries are set to receive P2,000 every month from July to December 2026. Attendance at the orientation is an important step in the process, allowing recipients to understand the guidelines and requirements of the assistance program.
The incident emphasozed the strong spirit of cooperation that can still be found in many communities. It also shows how ordinary people can make a meaningful difference through simple acts of compassion.
