Sharp Object Inside Modernized Jeep in Iloilo City Injured Female Passenger
A female passenger was left shocked and in pain after a sharp object reportedly poked her while she was riding a modernized jeep in Iloilo City.
On Monday morning (September 28, 2026), the passenger was traveling to work at Iloilo Mission Hospital when the incident happened. She later shared her experience on social media, expressing concern over the condition of the vehicle and the safety of passengers.
According to her account, she suddenly felt something sharp hit and scratched her backside while she was seated inside the jeep. At first, she did not know what had caused the pain, prompting her to check the seat.
Upon inspection, she discovered a sharp object sticking out from the middle opening of the seat. The object was positioned in a way that made it difficult to notice before sitting down.
The jeep’s conductor also checked the area after being informed about the incident. He reportedly tried touching the spot with his finger and was surprised to feel the sharp object hidden inside the seat.
The passenger expressed disappointment over the incident, particularly because modernized jeepneys charge higher fares compared with traditional public utility vehicles. For her, passengers expect a safe and properly maintained vehicle when paying for public transportation.
The lady passenger continued to experience pain and discomfort while performing her duties at work. The experience also raised concerns about how regularly public transport units are inspected before they are allowed to carry passengers.
Other commuters have also called on modernized jeepney operators and cooperatives to regularly check the seats and other parts of their vehicles. A simple inspection before a trip could help identify exposed nails, wires, broken parts, or other hazards that may injure passengers.
