“Pumili ng tama.”
Filipinos are being reminded to exercise their Constitutional right to vote by registering ahead of the 2028 presidential elections.
On Thursday, May 14, non-government organization (NGO) Angat Buhay reminded Pinoys of the importance of voting for the right leaders in the upcoming polls.
“PUMILI NANG TAMA. The country we deserve is shaped by the choices we make,” the NGO wrote in a social media post.
Filipinos can register to vote until May 18, Monday.
The NGO also shared a link to voter registration programs and schedules compiled by the Commission on Elections.
An organization also urged Filipinos to register as voters, saying that a good government starts with meaningful votes.
“We deserve better,” iMPACT Leadership wrote in a Facebook post.
“Sa makabuhulang boto nagsisimula ang mas maayos na gobyerno — at ang unang hakbang dito ay ang pagpapa-rehistro,” it added.
The organization also shared steps and reminders for voter registration.
“Dogshow Divas” host and stand-up comedian Baus Rufo likewise reminded the public to register as voters.
“Huwag kalimutan na hawak mo ang vote,” he said, referencing the viral “Hawak Mo Ang Beat” song on TikTok.
Rep. Chel Diokno (Akbayan party-list) also emphasized the importance of choosing the right leaders.
“Sa dami ng nangyayari ngayon, mas kailangan ang boses ng kabataan,” he said in a Facebook post.
“Hindi lang sa social media. Hindi lang sa usapan. Kundi sa mismong balota. Magparehistro. Makialam. Makilahok,” the lawmaker added.
“May kapangyarihan kang pumili ng mga lider na tapat, may prinsipyo, at tunay na maglilingkod sa bayan,” Diokno said.
Comelec likewise reminded Filipinos to register.
“Huwag palampasin ang pagkakataong maging bahagi ng pagpili para sa kinabukasan ng inyong komunidad,” it said.
The poll body also shared satellite registration venues for Metro Manila residents.
The reminders come ahead of the 2028 national elections, when Filipinos will elect a new set of leaders to shape the country’s direction for the coming years.
These elections will include the positions of president and vice president, the nation’s two highest offices.
In November 2026, Filipinos will also participate in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), choosing local leaders in their respective communities.
Participating in the process of selecting public officials, both locally and nationally, is a way to strengthen democracy in society, according to late Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.
“By voting, you get the opportunity to put a government in place that will care for you, provide you opportunities for prosperity and happiness, and protect you the way you want. Voting does this because the candidates you vote for act as your representatives,” he wrote in a previous opinion column.
