Grade 7 Student Allegedly Struck by Teacher in Bacolod
A Grade 7 student in Bacolod City suffered several injuries after allegedly being struck multiple times by a teacher inside a school.
According to the 12-year-old student’s mother, the incident started when a piece of clay accidentally hit the teacher during class. She explained that another student had first thrown the clay at her child.
The victim then threw it back, but instead of hitting the intended classmate, the clay accidentally struck the teacher.
The teacher reportedly became angry after being hit. The student claimed that the teacher then used a stick, believed to be part of an archery bow, to hit him several times. The blows allegedly caused injuries on his arm, underarm area, and back.
The family became alarmed when they saw blood stains on the student’s uniform after he arrived home. They later discovered that he had suffered at least eight wounds from the incident.
The boy’s mother said she was deeply hurt by what happened because they do not physically punish their child at home. She described him as a well-behaved student who does not get involved in fights and performs well in school. She also shared that they had never received any serious complaints regarding his behavior in the past.
Despite the incident, the student continues to attend school. His mother said he feels nervous about returning to class, but he does not want to miss his lessons.
The mother also revealed that some people had informed her that the same teacher had allegedly hurt other students before, although these claims have yet to be verified. She is now determined to pursue legal action over the incident.
Meanwhile, the Department of Education (DepEd) Bacolod City Division Office said that the teacher involved has been temporarily barred from reporting to work while an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
