Duterte’s Former Spox Harry Roque Speaks on VP Sara Duterte, Former VP & Naga Mayor Leni Robredo
HARRY ROQUE – The former presidential Spokesman claimed that former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and her supporters might support Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in her 2028 bid for president.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has announced that she will run for president in the 2028 Elections. While she admitted that she has already talked to someone to be her running mate, the Vice President did not reveal the person’s identity in the pursuit of protecting him/her as he/she decides.
Several names on who might be the running mate of the Vice President crossed the surface. Her early declaration of her presidential bid in the next national polls also earned reactions from some government officials.
As for former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo, she respects Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for announcing her presidential bid in 2028. She stressed that it is her right to do so. However, as for the possibility that she will make a comeback in the presidential race, the Naga Mayor refused to talk about election citing that now is the time for work.
Undeniably, there are also calls for former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo to run for president in 2028. Amid the calls, Robredo stressed that she has just assumed the mayoralty post in Naga and it would be a “disservice” to the people if she will think about the next election already.
The declaration of the Vice President came amid her rift with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Thus, there are speculations that she might allegedly take revenge on Marcos Jr. and his administration who supposedly sent former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Amid the speculations, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte denied that she will be a vengeful president. Recently, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s former spokesman, Harry Roque, spoke on the Vice President and former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo.
Harry Roque claimed that he has nothing bad to say about Robredo as there was a time when they stayed in the same dormitory at the University of the Philippines (UP). According to him, even Duterte might have nothing against the former Vice President whom she might have also helped in the 2016 when Robredo won against Marcos Jr.
“Nu’ng 2016 election… Baka pati si Leni Robredo natulungan niya sa Davao kasi siyempre kapwa babae, nagtutulungan ang mga kapwa babae sa eleksyon,” Duterte’s former Spokesman said.
Based on the post, Harry Roque also claimed that even if former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are on opposing sides in the political arena, they are not speaking bad against each other. According to him, while he is unsure, he really thinks that Duterte and Robredo might have helped each other in the past election.
“‘Pag tatakbong presidente si Sara Duterte baka maasahan niya na ‘yung mga loyalista ni Leni at si Leni Robredo mismo ay baka suportahan pa si VP Sara, hindi po ‘yan impossible,” Roque said.
Recently, Duterte’s former spox Harry Roque also claimed that the opponents of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are allegedly panicking following her declaration.
