This year, under the reign of Marcos Sr.’s only son, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., February 25 is a special working day in the list of 2026 holidays. Undeniably, there are calls for the President to make it a regular holiday in the Philippine calendar.

February 25, 2026 is currently a special working day in the Philippine calendar under the Proclamation No. 1006. Meanwhile, recently, the Malacañang Palace reacted to the proposals for Marcos Jr.

Malacañang Press Officer Claire Castro

According to News5, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro assured that Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will look into the proposal to make February 25 a yearly non-working holiday in the Philippines.

“He will study the suggestions regarding this matter,” the Palace official said based on the post.

Currently, there are several issues in the Philippine government including the alleged multi-million corruption through the flood control projects funded by the state. Marcos Jr. himself was tagged in the budget insertion issue amid the flood control mess.

Malacañang was quick to deny the allegations then saying that former House member Zaldy Co allegedly wants the flood control investigation to stop so he tagged the President. Co is accused as one of the main role players in the flood control mess.

According to the Palace, Pres. Bongbong Marcos is supposedly busy and focusing in his work now. The President recently led the launching of a program meant to boost the support of the national government to the local government. Local chief executives attended the said event held at the Palace.
