Honest Karinderya Helper Earns Praise Online for Returning Lost P30,000 Cash to Businessman
An honest karinderya helper has returned a wallet containing P30,000 in cash to its rightful owner in Kalibo, Aklan.
On Friday, September 18, 2026, the wallet was found by Landy Verano, along a road in Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo. While passing through the area, Landy noticed a black wallet lying on the ground. Upon checking it, he discovered that it contained a large amount of money.
According to information gathered, the wallet belonged to businessman Daryl Magbiro, who had traveled to Kalibo to buy supplies for his business. Before heading to his destination, he stopped at a gasoline station. It was during this part of his trip that he unknowingly dropped the wallet without realizing it.
Despite the number of people who had passed through the area, no one else picked up or reported the lost wallet. Landy was the one who found it and immediately decided to do what he believed was right.
Without hesitation, he brought the wallet to the Kalibo Municipal Police Station so authorities could help identify and locate its owner. His decision ensured that the money would be safely returned instead of falling into the wrong hands.
Landy works as a helper at a local eatery in Kalibo. Even though the wallet contained a huge amount of cash, he said that keeping it for himself never crossed his mind. He simply wanted to make sure it would be returned to the person who lost it.

Later that afternoon, the businessman and the honest finder met at the police station. Daryl expressed his gratitude after recovering the money he thought might be gone for good. As a gesture of appreciation for Landy’s honesty and integrity, he also gave him a cash reward.
