Homeowner Fights Back Against Intruder in Bulacan Shootout
An intruder who broke into a house in San Miguel, Bulacan house and ended up in a shootout with the homeowner.
On Maundy Thursday (April 2, 2026), a man broke into a house and ended up in a shootout with the homeowner. The incident quickly caught the attention of authorities and residents in the area.
CCTV footage showed a man wearing a green shirt running away while carrying a firearm and stolen items. Not far behind him was the homeowner, dressed in red, chasing the suspect while also firing a gun. The situation escalated quickly as both men exchanged shots in the street.
According to police, the suspect first entered the house, which also had a small store on the side. The homeowner was threatened at gunpoint, but instead of giving in, he resisted. He managed to run to his vehicle to get his own firearm, which led to the chase and eventual shootout.
During the exchange of gunfire, the homeowner was hit in the chest. Despite his injury, he was able to return to his house and was quickly brought to the hospital. Authorities later confirmed that he is now in stable condition and out of danger.
Police launched a follow-up operation and were able to track down the suspect within 24 hours. He was found hiding in a nearby cemetery, where he was arrested. The firearm used in the incident was also recovered.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had just been released from prison. Authorities are now looking into possible links to other robbery cases in Bulacan and nearby provinces such as Nueva Ecija and Pampanga.
“May mga information tayo na-received na ito ay involved na rin sa mga robbery incident diyan sa Bulacan. Ang tinitingnan natin baka dito sa nearby provinces, malapit kasi ‘yan kasi sa Nueva Ecija and Pampanga, so ‘yun ‘yung mga vini-verify pa natin as of this time,” Mendez said.
