IRAN REJECTS CEASEFIRE – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei rejected the proposal as Trump’s ultimatum loomed.
Amid the war, Tehran restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz for vessels linked to its adversaries following joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran. The conflict has impaired the global economy, directly affecting people through inflation and price increases, apart from the conflict itself.
As the war continues, United States President Donald Trump threatened massive military action and possible seizure of Iran’s oil if no agreement is reached based on his ultimatum. He is accordingly considering destroying major parts of the country and taking control of its oil resources, which shows an aggressive stance amid the ongoing tension.
Based on the latest, Iran rejected the ceasefire proposal and emphasized the need to permanently end the war. Iran responded with a ten-point proposal that includes ending regional conflicts, establishing a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting sanctions, and supporting reconstruction efforts.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei relayed that the ceasefire proposal is “illogical” and unacceptable. He added that the US and Israel “have no red lines” and that Iran cannot participate in any negotiations under threat.
Meanwhile, as of the latest, the US president has claimed that their forces could “take out” Iran in a single night, and it could be tomorrow night or Tuesday night. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the U.S. has plans to further escalate the conflict, as they are set to carry out “the largest volume of strikes since day one of this operation.”
More than 1,900 people have been killed in Iran since the war began, although authorities have not updated the death toll in recent days.
In Lebanon, over 1,400 people have died and more than 1 million have been displaced, while 11 Israeli soldiers have also been killed there.
Across Gulf Arab states and the occupied West Bank, more than two dozen fatalities have been reported. Meanwhile, 23 people have died in Israel, along with 13 U.S. service members.
