Authorities Arrest Man for Snatching Gold Necklace From Motorcycle Passenger
A 47-year-old man was arrested after allegedly snatching a gold necklace from a motorcycle passenger in Quezon City.
On September 14, 2026 (Monday), the traffic was heavy along EDSA Northbound near Juliana Market in Barangay Unang Sigaw and a motorcycle carrying a rider and a passenger was temporarily slowed down when the suspects made their move.
Investigators said the victim was riding a passenger on the motorcycle when one of the suspects suddenly grabbed the gold necklace from the victim’s neck. Authorities believe two people were involved in the crime.
“Yung biktima nakasakay ng motor tapos pinitas yung kwintas niya. Dalawa yung suspek. Yung necklace na nanakaw ay ipinasa roon sa isa pang suspek,” Talipapa Police Station commander Lt. Col. Patrick Ramillano said.
After taking the jewelry, the suspect reportedly handed it to an accomplice. Police also said the victim was threatened with a knife during the incident. The suspects then fled from the area, taking the stolen necklace with them.
The victim immediately sought help from barangay officials and the police, leading to a quick response from authorities. Officers launched a search operation and began tracking the suspect based on information gathered from witnesses and nearby sources.
Just 30 minutes after the incident, police were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects. Authorities said the man had not gone far from the scene when he was caught. During questioning, he reportedly admitted his involvement in the crime and claimed that financial difficulties pushed him to commit the offense.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had previously been linked to illegal drug-related activities. He is now facing charges of theft and grave threats and is being held at the Talipapa Police Station custodial facility while legal proceedings continue.
Meanwhile, the second suspect managed to escape and remains at large. Police are continuing their search by reviewing CCTV footage and conducting backtracking and forward-tracking operations to identify and locate the accomplice.
