Man Robs Store After Losing in Online Game, Arrested in Cebu
A man in Talisay City was arrested after allegedly robbing a small store following a loss in an online gambling game known as scatter.
According to authorities, the suspect, who works as a rider, lost money while playing the online game. Worried that he would not be able to bring anything home to his wife, he reportedly decided to rob a store that sells LPG tanks and butane.
During the incident, the man was able to take around P12,000 in cash along with a mobile phone belonging to the store attendant. The situation caused fear and distress to the victim, although no physical harm was reported.

After the robbery, authorities were able to track down the suspect. Items used in the crime were recovered, including a gun that was later found to be a toy. Despite this, the use of any object resembling a weapon still caused serious alarm during the incident.
It was the suspect’s own wife who reported him to the authorities. Her decision helped lead to his arrest and showed the importance of accountability, even in difficult situations. The man is now facing a robbery case and remains under police custody.
The incident portrays how financial pressure and poor decisions can quickly lead to serious consequences.
Local officials continue to remind the public about the risks of online gambling and the importance of seeking help when facing financial stress.
They also encourage individuals to find better ways to handle problems rather than turning to illegal actions that may harm others and ruin lives.
