NCR Workers Start Receiving P60 Daily Wage Increase
NCR – Around 1.1 million NCR workers are getting a boost in their daily wages as the latest wage adjustment officially takes effect.
Around 1.1 million minimum wage workers in the National Capital Region are now covered by a P60 increase in their daily pay following the implementation of Wage Order No. NCR-28, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The new wage rates officially took effect yesterday, raising the minimum daily wage for non-agricultural workers in Metro Manila from P695 to P755.
Workers employed in agriculture, small retail and service establishments with 15 or fewer employees, as well as small manufacturing businesses that regularly employ fewer than 10 workers, will also receive an increase. Their minimum daily wage has been adjusted from P658 to P718.
Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino urged employers to follow the newly prescribed wage rates and make the necessary changes to their payroll and compensation systems. The department stressed that employers are expected to ensure that workers receive the appropriate minimum wage under the new order.
“The department will continue to monitor compliance with the wage order and provide guidance to workers and employers on its proper implementation,” Tolentino said.
DOLE also explained that the latest wage adjustment went through the established tripartite wage-setting procedure. The process was conducted by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR before being confirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
The implementation of NCR-28 comes as the earlier Wage Order No. NCR-27 remains the subject of legal challenges before two regional trial courts. The cases are pending before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 152 and the Navotas City Regional Trial Court Branch 287.
Under NCR-27, a P60 increase was originally scheduled to take effect on July 25. An additional P25 increase was set to follow in January 2027.
With NCR-28 now in force, affected minimum wage earners in the capital region will see the latest adjustment reflected in their daily compensation, subject to the applicable wage category and coverage under the order.
DOLE’s continued monitoring is expected to focus on whether employers comply with the updated rates and properly implement the wage increase for covered workers.
