Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Asserts Investigation on Corruption Must Not Be Selective
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao Congressman reacted to the alleged order to have their family’s properties under investigation.
Countless Filipinos remain on a call for accountability over the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines. The said biggest corruption issue in the country has previously gathered thousands of Pinoys to protest in the streets.
Several congressmen and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control scam. Many of those DPWH officials have stepped down from their positions.
Currently, some politicians are also detained due to their alleged involvement in the issue. One of them is former Senator Bong Revilla who maintained his innocence.
After six (6) months in jail, former Sen. Bong Revilla was released on bail last month. His comrade, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, is currently detained due to his alleged involvement in the flood control corruption.
Recently, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte called on the government’s investigation on the flood control corruption to not be selective. Through a post on social media, the Davao Solon made the call amid his reaction on the alleged order to investigate the properties of their family.
“Isang government agency na may mga isyung kinakaharap sa integridad ng pamumuno ang nag-utos sa Investigation Division for Public Corruption na imbestigahan ang aming mga ari-arian,” the Davao Congressman wrote.
Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that their properties are not in Forbes Park, Corinthians, and Valle Verde. According to him, if they just want to do their job to investigate, they should not be selective.
“At kung talagang nagka-case build-up kayo laban sa amin, walang problema. Pero siguraduhin ninyong meron din kayo laban sa mga sangkot sa flood control controversy—kasama ang amo ninyo,” Duterte said.
According to Cong. Paolo Duterte, if the investigators won’t have a case build up regarding the flood control issue, it is allegedly not hard to think that the probe to their properties is supposedly another move to persecute their family.
“Kung mananagot, dapat lahat. Hindi iyong pipili lang kayo ng iimbestigahan habang pinoprotektahan ang mga tunay na dapat managot. At sa mga nag-aakalang madadaan sa pananakot, harassment o political persecution ang lahat, hindi kami matatakot,” he further stated.
In his post, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte slammed the unnamed “spoiled brats” who are allegedly scared of losing power and of the election. According to him, when they feel that they are losing control, they would allegedly do everything to inflict fear and persecution.
Previously, Cong. Paolo Duterte also defended Vice Pres. Sara Duterte from not attending the Senate impeachment trial.
