Raffy Tulfo had this statement about the 2028 elections
Sen. Raffy Tulfo asserted that his decision not to run in the 2028 presidential elections and to stand up to Vice President Sara Duterte will not change.
Tulfo is currently serving as one of the senators in the Philippines. He was first known as a broadcaster and vlogger. He has a public service program called “Isumbong mo kay Tulfo” in which he would cater to people’s complaints.
He started his career in politics in 2022, placing third in the senatorial race with over 23 million votes. Tulfo currently chairs the Senate Committee on Energy and the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers.
Speculations surface that Sen. Raffy Tulfo will run for a higher position, and some have guessed that he will run for president.
However, based on the report from Bandera, Tulfo reiterated that he has not been planning to run for a higher position or run against VP Sara Duterte. To recall, as early as February this year, the Vice President declared that she would run for president in the 2028 elections.
Tulfo’s justification is that he does not want to be like the newly elected officials who dreamed of a higher position but failed. He said he would rather run for senator again in 2028, when his first term as a lawmaker in the upper house of Congress will end.
He added that he believes he will be more effective in serving the people and the country if he remains a senator. Tulfo also mentioned that being the president of the country comes with more headaches because of the scope of responsibilities compared to being a legislator.
Meanwhile, Sen. Erwin Tulfo pleaded not to include his siblings in the presidential surveys because, like his older brother, he has no plans to run in the 2028 elections.
The senator also shared that his older brother is worried about being trolled again on social media.
