Atty. Michael Poa was asked about this rumor involving VP Sara Duterte
Atty. Michael Poa has explicitly and repeatedly denied the viral social media rumors that Vice President Sara Duterte threw a laptop at him.
Poa, who serves as the spokesperson for Duterte’s impeachment defense team, addressed the allegations in interviews, emphasizing that no such incident ever occurred.
In an interview on KC After Hours, hosted by Karmina Constantino, Poa was once again asked about the allegation against the Vice President.
The lawyer cleared up the rumors directly, stating, “Everyone is saying, ‘A, kaya hindi pantay ‘yong mata niya kasi nabato siya ng laptop.’ It never happened. Never, never happened.”
He clarified that Vice President Sara Duterte has never thrown a laptop or any other object at him.
Poa also dispelled narratives portraying the Vice President as aggressive, violent, or prone to outbursts. Having worked with her since her tenure at the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2022, he described her as “decisive and composed,” adding that she has never even raised her voice at him.
If it were true that VP Sara threw a laptop at him, he said that he would probably resign. Poa stressed that he wouldn’t stay because there’s no longer a reason for him to do so, but the fact that he remained the VP’s spokesperson showed that the rumor never happened.
Previously, the Vice President herself dismissed the allegation as “trash” and “gossip” during an interview with the Filipino community in The Hague, Netherlands.
She called the rumor part of an orchestrated “misinformation effort” designed to distort public perception amid her ongoing impeachment case.
VP Sara Duterte jokingly added to supporters that she does not even know how to properly operate a laptop, using devices primarily for video conferencing.
