Sara Duterte Honors Mothers Carrying the Weight of Family & Work
SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day message that resonated with many Filipino mothers, especially OFWs working far from their families.
Sara Duterte shared a heartfelt message for fellow mothers as part of the Mother’s Day celebration, recognizing both the sacrifices and joys that come with raising a family.
In her latest Facebook post on Sunday, May 10, the Vice President reflected on the realities of motherhood and the responsibilities that mothers carry every day. According to VP Sara, being a mother is a role filled with challenges, but it also brings immeasurable fulfillment.

“Bilang isang ina, alam ko ang bigat at saya ng ating tungkulin—the silent prayers we offer for our children, the long hours we spend ensuring they are safe, and the constant effort it takes to balance work and family,” said VP Sara.
The Vice President’s message resonated with many mothers who continue to juggle their responsibilities both at home and at work. She emphasized that motherhood requires constant dedication, patience, and strength, especially in today’s fast-paced world, where many women balance careers with raising children.
“To nurture a child and lead a household is one of the most challenging roles any woman can take. But it is also the most rewarding,” she added.
Aside from honoring mothers who are physically present with their families, VP Sara also acknowledged the sacrifices made by overseas Filipino worker mothers who endure being away from their loved ones to provide a better future for their children.
She said, “To our OFW mothers, we know that sacrifice is not always about physical presence—sometimes, the greatest sacrifice is the distance you endure to provide for your family. Salamat sa inyong katatagan.”

Her message highlighted the resilience and courage of Filipino mothers, especially those who continue to make personal sacrifices for the welfare of their families. Many supporters and netizens praised the Vice President for recognizing the efforts of mothers from different walks of life during the special occasion.
Mother’s Day is celebrated every second Sunday of May. The tradition began in the United States in 1908 through the efforts of Anna Jarvis, who organized the observance in honor of her late mother.
