VP Sara has a new fiery statement against PBBM

Vice President Sara Duterte has blamed President Bongbong Marcos and his administration for the alleged increase in government debt and the number of unemployed in the country.

Uniteam has indeed crambled, as the Vice President and the President continue firing at each other. Once, running mates, now, each is one another’s strict critic. In a recent statement, VP Sara has a new tirade against PBBM.

This time, she accused the administration of not working, and for her, the President should be blamed for the rise in unemployment and the country’s debt, based on the report from Bandera.

“As expected, because the entire administration is not working, especially the President,” VP Sara Duterte strongly stressed.

What you should be doing is focusing on your work. When you don’t focus on your work, that’s what happens, unemployment increases, we borrow more and more,” she added.

However, VP Sara’s statement seems to be inconsistent with the explanation of the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). BTr stressed that the government debt reached P18.49 trillion in March from P18.16 trillion in February.

However, the agency explained that the weakening of the peso against the US dollar was a major reason for this.

Also affecting this were the new global bonds issued by the government in 2025 and official development assistance that the Philippines received from international partners.

Meanwhile, the PSA said that the unemployment rate remained at 5 percent in March, slightly lower than the 5.1 percent in February. The agency also explained that it was affected by seasonal changes in employment and a slowdown in hiring after the holiday season.

Data stated that nearly 900,000 jobs were reportedly lost in the wholesale and retail trade while 772,000 were lost in the service and sales sectors. An estimated 1.42 million rural jobs were affected due to crop cycles in n the agriculture and forestry sector.

Because of this, Palace press officer Claire Castro immediately debunked VP Sara’s claim.

She said the President is not working. “That’s sad. [The vice president] admitted that she doesn’t know how to use a computer. She only uses the most expensive laptop. She only uses it for her Zoom. Again, she doesn’t know what’s going on, what the President is working on,”  Castro said.
