Netizens React To “Deafening Silence” of Sen. Bato dela Rosa with Sarah Discaya’s Answer
BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator was seemingly left speechless after Sarah Discaya claimed that her companies began securing government deals in 2016 which is also the start of the term of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The Senate launched its own probe on the contractors that were flagged by President Bongbong Marcos. The investigation came amid the discovery of several ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects funded by the government.
Several areas in the Philippines remain to face problems about flooding whenever tropical storms or heavy rains hit the country. Previously, during a press conference, Marcos Jr. revealed that the expenses of the country on the flood control projects have already reached over P500-billion.
According to Marcos Jr., the said amount funded the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025. The President called it an “enormous” amount.
Aside from exposing the expenses of the country on the government flood control deals, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also revealed that 20% of the said total flood control projects were awarded to the same 15 contractors. He even claimed that 5 of the said contractors got government flood control deals in almost all regions across the nation.

According to Marcos Jr., the Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp., the Legacy Construction Corporation, the St. Timothy Construction Corporation, the Road Edge Trading & Development Services, and the EGB Construction Corporation were awarded with government flood control deals in almost all regions across the nation.
The Senate launched an investigation. One of the contractors invited to the hearing is Sarah Discaya who is known as the owner of the Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp. Sen. Bato dela Rosa was one of those who asked questions to Discaya.
Undeniably, Sarah Discaya hooked the spotlight after her previous interviews showcasing her lavish lifestyle resurfaced amid the issue of flood control projects in the government. During the hearing, Sen. Bato dela Rosa asked her when she started securing government contracts.
Sarah Discaya answered “2016” and Sen. Bato dela Rosa told her to make sure of her answer. Based on a post of Rappler, the controversial contractor finalized that her companies started securing government contracts 2016 onwards. It was also the year when the term of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte began.
