MMDA Appealed to Malls to Offer Free Overnight Parking to Motorists Ahead of Looming Super Typhoon
MMDA urges malls across Luzon to provide free overnight parking for motorists ahead of Typhoon ‘Uwan’.
Recently, the Facebook page Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has appealed to mall operators across Luzon to provide free overnight parking for motorists who may be affected by the possible super typhoon.
Through an official memorandum, MMDA Chairman Don Artes instructed shopping malls to implement the free parking scheme starting Saturday night (November 8, 2025), until the typhoon exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The measure aims to help residents, especially those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, secure their vehicles from possible flooding.
According to the MMDA, this initiative is a practical way to reduce vehicle damage and ease the worries of motorists during severe weather. It also encourages cooperation between local authorities and private establishments to ensure public safety and convenience during emergencies.
Chairman Artes added that the MMDA is in close coordination with mall management teams to finalize guidelines and identify participating establishments. He encouraged the public to monitor official announcements from malls regarding the implementation of free parking arrangements.

The MMDA also reminded everyone to stay alert as heavy rain and flooding are expected in several parts of Luzon once Typhoon Uwan makes landfall. Motorists are advised to avoid traveling in flooded areas, keep emergency kits ready, and follow advisories from local disaster offices.
The agency hopes to lessen the burden on affected residents and protect their properties while ensuring safety amid the approaching storm.
Here is the full post:
