Man Attempted to Rob Store in Iloilo City Amid Typhoon Tino
A man was caught on CCTV trying to rob a small store amid the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Recently, Kemt Molina, a Facebook user, shared a video of a man attempting to steal from a small store while residents were busy protecting their homes from the strong winds and heavy rain brought by Typhoon Tino. The post garnered various reactions online.
The incident happened in Barangay Our Lady of Lourdes, Jaro, at the height of the storm. CCTV footage showed the man trying to break into a store, apparently targeting the day’s earnings. Despite the severe weather, he made several attempts to enter the shop.

According to Molina, he was about to throw out some trash when he caught the man in the act. The suspect immediately ran away. Molina also said the man returned multiple times, using a pair of pliers to widen a small opening in the store’s structure, hoping to get inside.
Luckily, the thief did not succeed, but his actions shocked the community. Many residents were disappointed that someone would take advantage of such a difficult time, especially when everyone was struggling to stay safe during the typhoon.
Authorities are now asking for the public’s help to identify the man seen in the CCTV footage. Police are reviewing the video and coordinating with nearby residents and store owners to locate the suspect.
Residents in the area are urged to stay alert, especially during disasters when many homes and small businesses are left unattended.
As of this writing, police continue their investigation, hoping to bring justice to the store owner and ensure such acts don’t happen again.
