Police Officer Lost His Life in Encounter w/ Fellow Cops After Allegedly Robbing Convenience Store
A police officer was killed in an encounter after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Marilao, Bulacan.
On Monday night, a ranking officer from the Caloocan City Police Station died in an encounter after robbing a convenience store.
Based on the initial investigation, the officer entered a convenience store in Barangay Sta. Rosa I, pretending to be a customer. Moments later, he allegedly pulled out a gun and declared a holdup.
The suspect reportedly took around P20,000 in store earnings before fleeing on a motorcycle toward Barangay Loma de Gato.
Responding officers from the Marilao Municipal Police Station immediately launched a hot pursuit operation. They managed to track down the suspect’s motorcycle near Heritage Subdivision in Barangay Loma de Gato.
When the authorities attempted to stop him, the suspect allegedly drew his firearm and started shooting. The police fired back, hitting the suspect during the exchange.
He was quickly brought to Sta. Maria Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The suspect, identified as a police captain assigned to the Caloocan City Police, was also a resident of Barangay Gaya-Gaya in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Authorities are now investigating whether he was connected to a group involved in a string of convenience store robberies across Central Luzon. The incident has raised serious questions about discipline and accountability within the ranks of law enforcement.
