LTO Suspends Fines for Typhoon Affected Motorists
The Land Transportation Office temporarily suspend fines and penalties for motorists who were affected by Typhoon Tino and Uwan.
Recently, the Facebook page Land Transportation Office – Philippines has announced that it will temporarily suspend fines and penalties for motorists who were affected by the recent typhoons Tino and Uwan. The post earns reactions online.
The agency made the decision as part of its effort to ease the burden on drivers whose licenses expired during the difficult weeks following the storms.
According to the LTO, many areas experienced work suspensions and disruptions caused by the back-to-back typhoons, making it hard for people to renew their driver’s licenses or settle traffic-related concerns on time.
To help those affected, the LTO decided to waive penalties for the renewal of expired licenses and other transactions that were delayed because of the calamities.
Under the directive of Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao instructed all regional and district offices nationwide to extend the validity of driver’s licenses that expired on or after October 30, 2025. Motorists can renew their licenses without fines until November 28, 2025.
The agency also clarified that all traffic apprehensions issued between October 28 and November 12, 2025, will not be subject to the usual 30-day accessory penalty, which is typically imposed when a motorist fails to settle a violation within 15 days after receiving a Temporary Operator’s Permit.
The temporary suspension aims to give affected motorists more time to recover and handle their transactions without added stress. The LTO encourages everyone to take advantage of the extension period and assures the public of its continued support as the country works to recover from the damage brought by the twin typhoons.
