72-Year-Old Grandmother Lost Her Life After Being Hit by Ambulance
A 72-year-old grandmother lost her life after being hit by an ambulance in Hacienda Nahalinan, Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
Based on information from La Castellana Municipal Police Station, the elderly woman, known only as Maria, was on her way to the town proper. She was riding a tricycle from Buena Park subdivision when the accident happened.
While traveling, she saw her child driving another tricycle along the road. Wanting to stop and talk, she waved her hand to signal her child to pull over.
As she got down, the elderly woman suddenly attempted to cross the street. At that moment, an ambulance owned by the local government unit of La Castellana was approaching from the opposite direction.
The driver reportedly did not have time to react, resulting in the ambulance hitting the senior citizen.
Witnesses said the incident happened very quickly, giving the ambulance driver little chance to avoid the collision. After the accident, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital in hopes of saving her life.
