Antonio Trillanes has this recent statement about politics
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is ready to become a member of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s cabinet if the position offered to him will help many Filipinos.
Trillanes is a former naval officer who served two terms as a Senator of the Philippines from 2007 to 2019. He is known in the country’s political scene as someone who transitioned from a military rebel to one of the most vocal and productive figures in the Philippine legislature.
He led a military protest against the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. That event was called the Oakwood Mutiny in 2003. In 2007, he led the Manila Peninsula Siege to call for Arroyo’s resignation.

Trillanes became the first Filipino senator elected while behind bars, back in 2007. Recent political discussions pointed out that Antonio Trillanes might run for Senator in the 2028 elections.
In a recent statement, based on the article in Abante, Trillanes expressed willingness to serve as a cabinet secretary under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos.
“Kung sa paniniwala natin ay makakapag-serbisyo tayo nang maayos sa posisyon na iyon, why not kung mas marami tayong matutulungan,” the former senator said.
He added that he has no plans to run in the senatorial and vice presidential races in the 2028 elections because he allegedly does not have a billion pesos to spend on the campaign.

“Kailangan mo na ng malaking pera, isang bilyong piso para lang pambayad mo ng airtime kasi ang TV ads P1 million per minute ‘yan eh. Doon ka lang makikilala so wala naman akong ganun na pera at limitado ang aking network so hindi ko kayang mag-compete sa kanila,” Trillanes expressed.
In the 2025 elections, Antonio Trillanes ran for mayor of Caloocan City but lost to Along Malapitan. He said that many people wanted to vote for him in Caloocan, but because of poverty, they allegedly accepted money from his opponent.
