Senate Storm Brews as Trillanes Demands Case vs Robin Padilla
TRILLANES – Former senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV insists that evidence is enough to formally charge Padilla over the controversial Senate incident.
Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV is calling for charges against Sen. Robin Padilla over allegations that he helped Sen. Bato dela Rosa escape during the Senate disturbance on May 13, 2026.
Trillanes said there must be accountability and that Padilla should be charged based on emerging evidence from authorities following the Senate incident. He emphasized that the legal process must be followed and the courts should decide the outcome.

“Merong proseso. Pero kailangan niyang makasuhan. Maliwanag ‘yon na siya ang nagpatakas. May mga testigo, may mga ebidensiya.
“Ngayon, kailangang makasuhan muna then bahala na ang korteng sumentensiya sa kanya (Padilla),” the former senator said.
The National Bureau of Investigation (National Bureau of Investigation) has identified Robin Padilla as a person of interest in the alleged escape of Bato dela Rosa.
CCTV footage released by the Philippine National Police (Philippine National Police) shows Padilla and Dela Rosa together going to the Senate parking lot on May 20.
They then boarded a white Toyota Fortuner with plate “DAV 1225,” reportedly registered under Padilla’s name.
Padilla has denied the allegations, saying there were many police officers inside and outside the Senate during the incident and that CCTV cameras were present, questioning how escape accusations could be made.

The controversy has sparked political debate in the Senate and among legal experts who say the evidence presented will be crucial in determining whether formal charges should proceed against the senator. Authorities continue to review CCTV footage and testimonies related to the May 13 Senate incident as part of their ongoing investigation. Both sides are expected to present further evidence as the case develops in the coming days while public attention remains focused on the issue.
The issue has also drawn public interest due to the high-profile personalities involved and the security concerns raised by the incident inside the legislative chamber. Legal analysts note that due process must be strictly observed before any arrest warrants or charges are finalized in the case. The Senate has not yet issued any official statement regarding potential internal sanctions or further proceedings. Observers expect more developments in the coming weeks nationwide.
