QC Court Orders Arrest of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over “Grave Threats”
SARA DUTERTE – The Quezon City Regional Trial Court orders the arrest of the Vice President over her ‘grave threats case’.
Aside from the alleged misuse of the confidential funds by Vice Pres. Duterte, the Vice President is also accused of supposedly issuing grave threats against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It is no secret to the Filipino people that their relationship has turned sour shortly after they won the 2022 Elections.
The ‘grave threats’ issue was about the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in 2025. Then, the Vice President reportedly claimed that she has hired someone to kill Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and then-House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot to assassinate her succeeds.
Amid the criticisms and the allegations that her remarks supposedly triggers a concern for national security, the Vice President claimed that there was allegedly no active threat in her remarks. The statement was made amid the confidential funds issue against her.
Duterte is accused of alleged misuse of the confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) amounting to P125 million. Currently, an impeachment trial is being conducted in the Senate over the issues involving the Vice President.
Recently, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 issued an arrest warrant against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on News5, the arrest warrant is over her grave threats case regarding her previous remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Duterte is faced with three (3) counts of grave threats in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Based on the report, the Court junked the motion of the Vice President to recall the arrest warrant against her.
Furthermore, Branch 98 also found probable cause to hold her trial on all three counts of grave threats. The bail is set at P120,000.00
Recently, amid the issues, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office unveiled its budget request for 2027.
