“Though they are no longer with us, the memories we shared and the values they taught us continue to bring our families closer together,” the Chief Executive wrote.

“Let us honor those who have passed not only through our prayers, but also through the way we care for those who remain. May these solemn days bring peace to those who mourn and remind us to cherish the people we hold dear,” he added.

Aside from his father, President Marcos also honored members of the Aquino family. According to Super Radyo dzBB, he sent flowers to the tombs of former Presidents Corazon Aquino and Noynoy Aquino, as well as former Senator Ninoy Aquino, at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.

The Marcos and Aquino families were known political rivals. Supporters of the Aquino family were also reportedly seen at the burial site to pay their respects.

In his Undas message, the President also called on Filipinos to extend the devotion they show for the departed to acts of kindness and concern for others, Philstar reported.

“If we can make time to revere those who have passed, we can also make room to listen to those who struggle, and let that same concern guide our society and the work of government,” he said.

Millions of Filipinos are expected to visit cemeteries across the country during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day to offer prayers for their departed loved ones.
