On Thursday evening (September 3, 2026), a mentally challenged man was taken into custody by the Kalibo Municipal Police Station after disturbing customers at a fast-food restaurant in Kalibo, Aklan.
The incident happened along D. Maagma Street corner Mabini Street, where customers and employees became concerned over the behavior of the man, identified only by the alias “Bho.”
The culprit is known by many residents as a homeless individual who often roams around different parts of the town.
According to initial information, a female security guard assigned to the fast-food restaurant contacted the police after noticing the man allegedly creating trouble and making threats toward customers inside the establishment.
Concerned about the safety of those in the area, authorities were immediately informed of the situation.
Police officers quickly responded to the call and arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The man was later taken into custody without further incident and was brought to the Kalibo Municipal Police Station for proper handling and evaluation.
Authorities learned that the man’s behavior reportedly changes whenever he goes without food for an extended period. Residents familiar with him said he is generally known around town, but his actions can become unpredictable when he is hungry.
Cases involving individuals with mental health or developmental challenges often require both public safety measures and proper social support.
As of this writing, the man remains under the temporary custody of authorities while officials determine the appropriate course of action.
