Senator Pia Cayetano denies hiding in Singapore after she and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano were spotted at the airport.
A couple of days ago, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano was spotted at the Singapore airport with his sister, Senator Pia Cayetano. This is amid the male senator’s involvement in several cases.
Both senators are also facing corruption allegations.
Recently, Senator Pia has spoken out against the buzz that their Singapore trip has created and strongly denied that they are on the run.
In a Facebook livestream, Cayetano confirmed that she is currently in Singapore and explained that she traveled there to support the Philippine Padel National Team. She said the trip was planned in connection with the team’s tune-up games before the Asian Games.
To prove her claims, Cayetano also showed some members of the Philippine team during her livestream, stressing that her trip was related to her support for Filipino athletes.
“I’m in Singapore, guys, and I’ll tell you why. I’m with our national team. Our Padel National Team. Alam niyo naman I am an avid supporter of our national team. Kung kaya ko puntahan kung nasaan sila para magsupport, I will do that,” she said.
According to her, she has no reason to hide from the public and stay away from the issues in the country.
She went live after the Bureau of Immigration confirmed that she and her brother had traveled to Singapore. The bureau said there was no hold-departure order or other record against them, so they were free to leave the country.
The National Bureau of Investigation also said there was no legal issue with their trip, although the timing raised public questions and scrutiny.
“Thank you guys for all the support. Alam na alam niyo naman na support na support ko ang mga athlete. Kahit na anong maitulong ko sa kanila, kahit na busy ako. I’m an athlete at heart,” she expressed.
