Car Owner Seeks Payment Firetruck Hits His Vehicle Illegally Parked Along the Road
A car owner reportedly sought payment for the damage after his vehicle was hit by a fire truck while responding to a fire in Makati City.
On Saturday (September 12, 2026), several vehicles were reportedly parked on both sides of the road along General Macabulo Street in Barangay Bancal. The situation made it difficult for emergency vehicles to pass through the narrow street.
A viral video showed fire trucks struggling to get through the area while responding to a fire. As one of the trucks tried to squeeze through the limited space, it reportedly hit a parked car along the side of the road.
The collision damaged the car’s side mirror and caused the vehicle to be dragged slightly. The footage was taken from another fire truck that was also part of the emergency response.
According to the person who uploaded the video, the car owner later went to the fire station and police station to seek payment for the damage. The owner reportedly wanted the fire truck driver to cover the repair costs, but the driver refused to pay.
The car owner also faced action from the Land Transportation Office, which issued a show cause order requiring the vehicle owner to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Personnel from the Metro Manila Development Authority and the Makati local government visited the area. Several illegally parked vehicles were ticketed and towed to clear the road.
An MMDA official explained that a local barangay ordinance allows parking on only one side of the street. However, authorities admitted that enforcing the rule remains difficult because some drivers return to park along the road once enforcement teams leave.
