Police Probe Money Motive in Killing of Woman Whose Body Was Found Inside Refrigerator
The police are investigating a money motive behind the killing of a woman whose body was found inside a refrigerator in an apartment in Rizal.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), information provided by the victim’s father revealed that his daughter was carrying a large amount of money before her death. Investigators are now considering whether the cash could be linked to the crime as they continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading to the incident.
Authorities are also searching for a man who introduced himself as the victim’s live-in partner. He has been identified as a person of interest in the case. Police later found that the man reportedly has an existing arrest warrant for a serious illegal detention case, adding another angle to the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, individuals claiming to be relatives of the victim were asked to help identify the body. Although some distinguishing marks, including a mole, were reportedly recognized, the condition of the remains made visual identification difficult.
The authorities will conduct DNA testing to confirm the victim’s identity. The family has chosen to remain private and has not issued any public statements.
The apartment landlord became concerned after repeatedly failing to contact the tenant. He last spoke with the victim on September 9 when she was reportedly with the man now being sought by authorities.
When he returned several times afterward, no one answered the door. His suspicion grew after noticing unusual changes in the apartment and later detecting a foul odor coming from the unit.
The landlord eventually contacted the police, who entered the apartment and discovered the woman’s body hidden inside a refrigerator.
“Kaya bumaho ito dahil siguro hindi gaano na kinaya ng ref para mapalamig ‘yung bangkay. Strangulation ang nagiging sanhi dahil ‘yung pantali nga po ay nakita pa doon ating mga investigador sa lugar,” Rodriguez Police Lieutenant Gerry Cordero said.
Investigators believe the victim may have died from strangulation. Evidence found at the scene reportedly supports this theory. Neighbors also told authorities that they saw the victim outside the apartment on the morning of September 10 receiving a delivery.
Later that evening, some residents reported hearing loud noises coming from the area.
