Mayor Vico Sotto had this message for his constituents
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto apologized to residents affected by delays in three infrastructure projects in the barangays of Buting, Pinagbuhatan, and Maybunga.
Mayor Vico is currently in his laste term. He is known not just in Pasig, but in the whole country, with his good governance. The Mayor is also pushing for transparency in the government. He would share even on his personal media pages the projects that the Pasig LGU has been doing.
In a recent social media post, the mayor shared un update about the delayed projects and he apologized to his constituents because of this.
Mayor Vico Sotto described the situation as “unacceptable” and admitted feeling embarrassed whenever he passes by the unfinished projects.
“Ako po ay humihingi ng paumanhin sa mga napeperwisyo dahil sa mga DELAY ng iilang proyekto sa Buting, PInagbuhatan, at Maybunga. Hiyang-hiya ako sa inyo tuwing nadadaanan ko ang mga proyekrong ito,” the Pasig City Mayor said.
He issued notices of termination against the contractor overseeing the projects. Mayor Vico also expressed that he will ban contractors from securing government contracts again.
The combined cost of the three projects is approximately P40.23 million, based on the article in Bandera.
In Barangay Buting, only 49 percent of the P16.7-million drainage system and sidewalk project along San Guillermo and F. Flores Streets has been completed. The project received the notice to proceed on February 5, 2025, with an original target completion date of October 22, 2025.
Meanwhile, the P10.02-million interior roads and drainage system project in Ilugin and Sandoval, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, is only 46 percent complete. The project received its notice to proceed on February 14, 2025, and was originally scheduled for completion on September 12, 2025.
In Barangay Maybunga, the P13.52-million road reblocking and drainage project, spanning the area from the Pasig City General Hospital compound to Eusebio Avenue, is 80 percent complete.
According to Mayor Vico, work within the hospital compound has been finished, while some sections outside the compound remain incomplete.
He added that the contracts with the concerned contractor for the projects in question have been terminated, and the remaining work will be awarded to another contractor in accordance with procurement laws and regulations.
Mayor Vico Sotto also stated that they would intensify the monitoring of infrastructure projects while continuing to implement procurement reforms.
