Factory in Subic Bay Freeport Burns for Nearly 8 Hours; 2 People Reportedly Hurt
A massive fire hit a factory inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales overnight, burning for nearly eight hours before firefighters brought it under control early Thursday morning (November 5, 2026).
According to a report by Inquirer, the blaze struck the Jinboway facility at Subic Gateway Park Phase II. The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) said the fire was placed under control at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday.

Based on a report by GMA News, the fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday at the warehouse, estimated to be a three-storey building. A witness said the fire reportedly started on the ground floor, and workers on the second floor rushed out after they smelled smoke.
Two people, including a firefighter, sustained minor injuries and were given first aid, the SBMA Fire Department said.
SBMA Communications Head Armie Llamas said textile supplies and plastic materials stored inside the factory were believed to have fueled the quick spread of the flames, which also reached a row of nearby buildings.
“We’re still trying to determine which companies were affected,” Llamas said. She added that no one died since everyone at the site was able to get out.
Explosions were still heard from the burning warehouse past 4 a.m. Thick black smoke also drifted over the Subic Freeport Expressway and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), at times causing near-zero visibility for motorists.
Firefighters from the SBMA, Olongapo, Angeles City and Lubao, Pampanga, together with disaster response personnel, responded to the fire. An aerial ladder was used to help contain the blaze.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
