Mandaluyong Police Arrest SUV Driver Allegedly Behind Online Seller’s Death
Mandaluyong police have arrested a 30-year-old SUV driver who allegedly drove off with a ₱50,000 cellphone while its 23-year-old seller clung to the vehicle, according to ABS-CBN News.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday night, November 5, as he was leaving his house in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, ABS-CBN News reported on November 6, 2026 at 7:04 a.m. He is detained at the Mandaluyong City Police Station and will face a robbery with homicide case. He declined to give a statement.
Mandaluyong police officer-in-charge PCol. Rey Ochavo said the suspect met the victim at an eatery and pretended to be a buyer. “Nagpanggap siya na bibilhin niya tapos sinabi niya wala po siyang cash na available. Sinabi niya na magwi-withdraw siya ng pera,” Ochavo said.
The suspect then allegedly took the seller and the seller’s girlfriend in his SUV to a bank. The couple got out after the driver asked them to remove an obstruction in the parking area, and he allegedly sped off with the unpaid phone. The victim climbed onto the vehicle’s step board and hung on from Ortigas, then onto EDSA, before falling about 400 meters later, Ochavo said.
GMA News identified the victim as Mohammad Sheikdugar and reported that the incident happened around 6 p.m. last Sunday, based on dashcam footage. His mother, Muslima Sarib, told GMA News that he died after suffering severe head injuries in the hospital. The plate number was not clearly visible in the only video the family had, according to the same report.
Police said the suspect has also been linked to a previous “gas-and-run” incident. Ochavo credited the arrest to the “borderless policy” of their regional director, which he said made coordination among Metro Manila cities easier.
The victim’s mother thanked the Mandaluyong police, saying they did everything they could from November 1 to 5. The victim’s girlfriend said they must keep fighting for justice for him and urged others to stop such scams.
The suspect remains in police custody while the robbery with homicide case against him is being prepared.
