Female College Student Killed After Alleged Dispute Over Loan Request in Nueva Ecija
A female student lost her life after she was allegedly strangled by her cousin following a dispute over a loan request in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.
According to local police, the 21-year-old victim was living alone in her house in Barangay Sto. Cristo when her 27-year-old male cousin visited her on Sunday morning. Initial findings showed that the suspect reportedly asked to borrow P5,000 from the young woman.
When she was unable to provide the money, an argument allegedly broke out between the two.
Investigators said the disagreement quickly turned violent. Authorities believe the suspect used a blanket to strangle the victim inside her home. After the incident, he allegedly took the victim’s cellphone before leaving the area.
The crime remained undiscovered until around 10:30 in the morning when another cousin visited the victim’s house. Family members initially thought the young woman had taken her own life after seeing the condition of her body.
However, further examination and an autopsy later revealed signs that she had been strangled. Police launched an investigation and gathered statements from witnesses. One witness reportedly identified the suspect as the last person seen entering the victim’s home before the incident.
The information helped authorities track him down and make an arrest shortly afterward
During the operation, police recovered the victim’s cellphone from the suspect. Authorities also reported that the suspect admitted his involvement in the crime during questioning.
The suspect is now under the custody of the San Antonio Police Station and is expected to face a murder charge. Meanwhile, relatives continue to mourn the loss of the young student whose life was cut short by a tragic incident involving someone from her own family.
