Statement of Malacañang on VP Sara Duterte’s Latest Accusation vs. Pres. Bongbong Marcos
Malacañang junked the claim of Vice President Sara Duterte that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly smelled like alcohol early in the morning when she tendered her resignation as the education of the Department of Secretary.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte served as the secretary of DepEd for around two (2) years. Her resignation from being the education secretary in 2024 signaled the souring relationship between her and Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Since then, the Vice President has criticized the Marcos admin in several interviews.

Recently, Malacañang described the stint of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as DepEd secretary as “a complete failure” after the Vice President criticized the PH education. At an event in Kuwait, the Vice President claimed that the students in other countries are already learning about robotics and coding while education in the Philippines is allegedly stuck in “paper and pencil”.
Duterte also stressed that three or four-year-old kids in other countries already know how to read but some high school students in the country still do not know how to read. In response to her criticisms, Malacañang said the Vice President could have solved her complaints when she was the DepEd Chief.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reacted to the statement of Malacañang calling her DepEd secretary stint as a “complete failure”. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, upon her resignation as the DepEd secretary, Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly wanted her to stay. However, the Vice President claimed she declined.

Duterte also claimed that Marcos Jr. allegedly asked her if there is any position she wants but she also refused. According to Vice Pres. Duterte, Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly smelled like alcohol at 10:30 a.m. when she tendered her resignation from being the education secretary. She claimed that she saw him drinking champagne.
The Vice President further expressed that she is not the failure but the person who smelled like alcohol at 10:30 in the morning. Recently, Malacañang reacted to the “amoy alak” accusation of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that there is allegedly no truth to the stories of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on PhilStar, the Palace official further claimed that all the stories of the Vice President were allegedly to malign the President as he wants him to step down.
“Walang katotohanan ang mga kwento niyang ito laban kay Pangulong Marcos, Jr. Madali sa kanilang gumawa ng kwento at propaganda… Lahat ng kwento niya ay para siraan ang Pangulo dahil nais niyang pababain ito sa pwesto at siya ang maging pangulo,” the Malacañang press official said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Marcos admin allegedly wants to eliminate her as the “frontrunner” of the 2028 Elections.
